JIBAKUL celebrates World Animal Day 2016 in Bajali College with PG Zoology Department

JIBAKUL- Biodiversity Conservation  Organization  Celebrates  “ world Animal Day” on occasion of Wildlife Week, 2016 at Bajali College.

“Animal Day” was observed in Bajali College, Pathsala of Barpeta District on 4th of October, 2016  on occasion of Wildlife week celebration which is celebrated from 1st October to 7th October though out India organized jointly  by Department of Zoology, Bajali College and  “JIBAKUL” an organization for wildlife conservation. Celebration of wildlife week was first started in the year 1952 with the great vision of saving the life of the Indian animals by focusing the people’s attention towards the importance of conservation of the wildlife and to discuss the issues related to the preservation of the wild life.

On this occasion a quiz programme has organized among the degree and PG students of the college. The quiz programme was inaugurated by …….Assistant Professor, Zoology Department, Bajali College. The main objective for organizing the competition was to inspire, educate and empower the young minds of students on environment and wildlife.
As part of Animal Day celebration a Special Lecture on ‘Wildlife Conservation as Career’ was also organized on the same day. Dr. Bibhuti P Lahkar, IUCN Heritage Hero, 2016 and Programme Co ordinator of Aaranyak was the Resource Person of the Lecture. The lecture was innagurated by Dr Monoj Kumar Mahanta, Principal of Bajali College, in Presidency of Mr Ranjit Dutta, Assistant Professor of Zoology Department.  Dr Monoj Kumar Mahanta lauded the efforts and initiatives of civil society organizations for promoting conservation of nature and wildlife in collaboration with academic institutions of the state.
Dr. Bibhuti Lahkar, on his speech beautifully explained the present scenario of wildlife conservation in Assam, how to turn the research career from the academic flow.
Again Mr Bipul Das, Project Manager of Aaranyak a society for conservation of Biodiversity has given a brief on “Manas World Heritage Biodiversity, its opportunity and challenges” 
Speaking at the conclusion of the special lecture, Mr Monoj Rajbongshi, Assistant Professor of Zoology Department, Bajali College has urged the students to come forward who want to make wildlife conservation as a career.

At the end vote of thanks was given by Dr Deepika Kalita Deka, Assistant Professor of Zoology Department.
